Ooni elbows into the realm of pizza dough with Halo Pro Spiral Mixer launch

Many of us lust over Ooni pizza ovens, so is the company making the right move by expanding into mixers?

Ooni has announced the Halo Pro Spiral Mixer, representing diversification away from the company’s pizza oven product lines.

Announced this week, Ooni teased its customers with a rather sparkly advert, dubbing the Halo Pro Spiral Mixer as a “revolution in mixing.”

So, what’s new?

According to Ooni, this mixer is capable of producing “bakery quality” dough through a dual kneading action and a removable breaker bar. Beater and whisk attachments are also included.

“We asked independent, third-party experts to run the Halo Pro through its paces. Using their expertise, along with equipment like alveographs, texture analyzers and colorimeters, they found that the Ooni Halo Pro Spiral Mixer achieves stronger gluten networks compared to traditional stand mixers,” Ooni says.

And as we know, the better developed the gluten, the more elasticity — and the more chance you have of producing better dough. And, naturally, better pizza.

Now, you may ask, does the marketing budget reflect the cost? For the average home cook, the price tag is eye-watering: $799. But if you’re running a wood-fired pizza business, the prospect of harnessing new, innovative methods to improve your product might be an attractive prospect.

This mixer goes on sale in April. If you want to join the waiting list, visit Ooni and submit your email address.
